Truly Spiked & Sparkling has launched a new range of “spiked sparkling waters” – an alcoholic twist on sparkling water.
With just 100 calories and 2g of carbohydrates per serving, the 5% Truly Spiked & Sparkling range is described as “the lowest-calorie and lowest-carb” spiked sparkling water on the market. It is available in three flavours: slightly tart and crisp colima lime, made from limes grown on Mexico’s Pacific coast; grapefruit and pomelo, a lesser-known citrus fruit with a sweetness that balances the grapefruit; and pomegranate, which Truly Spiked & Sparkling said was “clean, crisp and refreshing”.
The new line-up has been rolled out in six-packs across nearly 20 major markets throughout the US, with a recommended retail price starting at $9.99.
Every batch is crafted with simple ingredients, free from artificial flavours and sweeteners. The beverage contains alcohol made from cane sugar, which is what gives these sparkling waters their “modern twist”.
Casey O’Neill, a member of the innovation team behind Truly Spiked & Sparkling, said: “A few years ago, I began noticing many of my friends and family members giving up traditional soda for flavoured sparkling water. I started playing around with alcoholic versions as a side project over a year ago, realising there was a need for something clean, crisp and sparkling, like traditional sparkling water, but for times when you want to imbibe! After much experimentation, we created the recipe for Truly Spiked & Sparkling and knew we had something great – refreshing, with a hint of fruit, but doesn’t fill you up or break the calorie bank.”
