Tuckey’s believes that, over the years, other brands have lost the heritage of how they make digestive biscuits and no longer follow the original recipes. Due to government guidelines and costs, they took out the ‘good stuff’.
Using the original, proper ingredients, including butter, Demerara sugar and molasses, as well as a proper processing method that includes allowing 25 minutes for mixing (compared to other brands that allow five, and baking them for a slower period of time), consumers end up with a buttery, homemade-tasting digestive.
Tuckey’s is confident that its Proper Digestives will offer customers ‘a superior taste that can be enjoyed over a proper tea break’.
“We’ve noticed that, over the years, because of price promises and government guidelines, other brands have moved away from the traditional digestive biscuit method,” said founder Simon Tuckey. “These changes now mean that it’s no longer the product it once was, and at Tuckey’s this is what we’re keen to bring back and create a superior biscuit.
“Tuckey’s is all about proper food, proper ingredients and proper methods, with the results ending in a proper biscuit.”
Tuckey’s Proper Digestives are available in Sainsbury’s stores in the UK with a RRP of £1.39.
