The Vitamin D Mission sees commercial and professional bodies unite in a single cause, and is supported by the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital and organisations including Cow & Gate Growing Up Milk, BetterYou and Kellogg’s.
The Mission aims to put vitamin D in the spotlight and help tackle the UK’s current shortfall. The campaign is hoped will raise awareness of the importance of the essential vitamin for under-5s, highlighting the UK’s vitamin D deficiency problem and educating parents about solutions.
Research shows that the average toddler is only getting 27% of the recommended daily dietary vitamin D intake, potentially putting them at risk of associated health conditions such as diabetes, osteoporosis and multiple sclerosis.
