There were some fantastic company’s that entered the best manufacturing/processing technology innovation category at the World Food Innovation Awards, showcasing a range of innovation.
Integrated water solutions company Suez entered Ice Pigging into the category which is a technique that uses an ice slurry which is pushed through production pipelines to clean and recover product. It is different from other methods such as solid pigging and water flushing as the ice is capable of navigating complex pipework including changes in pipe diameter, bends, valves, heat exchangers etc without becoming stuck.
Ederna’s concentration of liquids reduces transport and storage costs and ensures greater stability of the product. The liquid concentrate and enhancer market is also expected to see a huge expansion in the next five years. However, avoiding product degradation during the concentration stage is difficult using current thermal processes.
DSM’s sustainable cheese ripening solution Pack-Age eliminates the need for coating and saves cheese waste. Pack-Age is a high tech packaging solution for naturally ripening cheese. This solution envelops the cheese with a moisture permeable, breathable membrane that allows the cheese to ripen naturally, but without the risk of mold and yeast growth.
The Karmelle rotary automatic capping machine is designed for closing various types of containers with screw, press-on and pilfer proof caps. The machine is especially suitable for use in the food-processing, cosmetic and chemical industries but as all our machines are bespoke, can be widely adjusted.
