Vita500 has launched its brand of vitamin drinks in the US, having partnered with Connecticut-based distributor New England Beverage Company to bring the range over from Asia.
The ready-to-drink range is named for its vitamin C content – 500mg per bottle, with only 50 calories. The vitamin drinks also deliver 100% of the daily reference value of riboflavin and are a good source of vitamins B3 – to help support good cholesterol – and B6.
Unlike many energy drinks, it is free from caffeine, taurine and both artificial flavours and colours.
William Cho, executive managing director of brand owner Kwangdong USA, was quoted as saying: “With successful sales in 28 countries worldwide, we are delighted to launch in the United States with New England Beverage Company, a formidable distributor. Vitamin C is known as ‘the grandfather of antioxidants,’ and has the built-in awareness that goes with that title. At the same time, Vita500 delivers vitamin C in a meaningful amount in a ready-to-drink beverage and at 50 calories, and that’s entirely new.”
Launched in South Korea 15 years ago, the brand is the country’s leading vitamin drink with sales of more than 366 million bottles last year – an average of 1 million bottles every day.
