UK snack brand Whitworths has launched a superfood snack range, with on-trend ingredients such as flaxseed and maca.
The three new products are bursting with vitamins and nutrients – including B12 and omega-3 – and are aimed at consumers looking for tastier, healthier snacks with high-quality ingredients. They include flaxseed crackers in cayenne chilli or garlic and herb flavours, maca-roons in vanilla or cacao, plus raw snack bars in either cacao or coconut varieties.
Each product is gluten-free, soy-free and suitable for vegetarians.
The portion-controlled snacks offer consumers a portable and hassle-free way to incorporate the health foods into their diets, priced at a recommended £1.49 per product.
Whitworths head of marketing Phil Gowland said: “At Whitworths we understand that consumers are no longer prepared to sacrifice taste for health when it comes to snacking – that’s why our new Full of Super range offers healthy choices, without compromising on flavour.
“The snacking industry is constantly changing, with consumers always on the look out for that new, go-to product. The Full of Super range – with its nutritional value, great flavour and unique formats like our Maca-roons – make us confident they will become firm favourites with consumers.”
The launch reinforces Whitworths’ healthy image, having concentrated mostly on fruit and nut-based snacks. In August it launched a line of naturally sweet fruit snack packs. And in September it added a new line of mixed fruit and nut snack pouches with flavours such as apple-cinnamon and bountiful coconut.
Whitworths has also announced that its line of Shots – a mouth-sized mixture of fruit, nuts and inclusions – will be available at Asda till points across the UK in a bid to drive impulse custom.
Whitworths Shots brand manager Terri Dainter commented: “The addition of Whitworths Shots at Asda till points will offer shoppers an alternative, healthier option to traditional snacking products. As healthier snacks rise in popularity, it’s fantastic to see retailers embracing this and changing the products for purchase at point of sale. Making Shots more conveniently and readily available for consumers is another way to encourage a more balanced lifestyle across the country, something the nation is increasingly demanding.”
