Logistics company Wincanton has partnered with Majestic Wine, the UK’s largest specialist retailer of wine, to implement a new national fulfilment centre (NFC) at its shared user site in Greenford, Middlesex.
As part of a five-year agreement, Wincanton will store, pick, pack and deliver over 4 million Majestic Wine goods every year – including fine wines, gift packs and seasonal items – to fulfil individual online customer orders. The partnership between Wincanton and Majestic will give customers access to over 1,250 wines, one of the largest ranges in the UK, along with click-and-collect, named and next-day delivery options.
It will take tasks away from the stores and give Majestic’s staff more time to focus on their customers as 40% of all online orders will be fulfilled through the NFC, Wincanton said.
Majestic Wine Retail managing director John Colley said: “Customer service is our key focus at Majestic and the launch of the NFC will be an important part of our transformation plan. Wincanton’s flexibility, expertise and knowledge of retailers and the ecommerce space has been vital in this process and the site will greatly improve our customer service online and in store as a result.”
Liam McElroy, managing director, retail and consumer for Wincanton, added: “Consumers increasingly expect more flexibility and choice from their retailers. At Wincanton, we have the expertise, systems and infrastructure that’s needed to help retailers of all sizes grow, fulfill multi-channel orders and deliver a consistently high-quality customer experience.
“Through this partnership with Majestic, we’ve developed a joined up e-commerce fulfilment solution that will support them as they transform their business into a customer-focused multi-channel retailer.”
