Rebecca Prescott2 Dec 2011

Symrise has revealed that their Teterboro and Branchburg facilities located in New Jersey, and their plant in Elyria, Ohio (US), have achieved Level 3 Safe Quality Foods (SQF) 2000 Certification.

In making the announcement, Dr Matthias Guentert, President, Symrise flavour and nutrition division, North America, said: “The achievement of Level 3 SQF certification is part of Symrise’s global flavour and nutrition division’s initiative and commitment to safety and quality. Symrise is among a very small number of flavour suppliers to have earned this distinction. To our customers, it is the assurance that we offer the highest level of safety in the flavour and food ingredients that we provide.”

Dr Guentert explained that the Level 3 SQF 2000 certification was a sequential process that evolved over a period of time. The process involved reaching Level 1 and 2 standards before acquiring Level 3 SQF 2000 certification. Teterboro and Branchburg achieved Level 2 in 2010 and were certified at Level 3 in September, 2011. Elyria achieved Level 3 within one certification in October, 2011.

The independent audits for SQF certification were conducted by NSF International, the public health and safety organisation. NSF verified that the Symrise facilities met the standards of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) which acknowledges compliance to their standards at SQF Levels 2 and 3.
