Yorkshire-based sausage producer Anna’s Happy Trotters has invested in a new packaging design, as part of a plan to ramp up its strategy for growth.
The new design has been developed by Leeds-based Brand Britain, which was tasked with creating a new style that would significant enhance on-shelf standout in what the creative agency described as an already “crowded category”.
The range is now available in a number of retail outlets and includes Porkshire Terrier sausages, which is made using local Yorkshire Terrier beer; pork and caramelised onion sausages; and an original pork variant.
The pork used in all of the products comes from breeds that are free range and specifically chosen for their eating quality. The Landrace and Duroc-cross breeds have low levels of back fat and produce marbled meat which enhances the flavour and succulence of products in the range, the Howdon, East Riding-based firm said.
Anna’s Happy Trotters’ Anna Longthorp said: “We pride ourselves on our commitment to animal welfare in farming and we wanted to create a brand that celebrates our free range pigs and helps consumers to make informed decisions when buying pork products.”
Brand Britain creative director Russell D’Ambrosio said: “We felt it was important to bring some vibrancy into the fixture and we created packaging that intentionally avoided the well-worn visual cues often used to denote farm reared, free range qualities.”
