Low-sugar drinks brand Zeo has rolled out its 750ml range in over 500 Sainsbury’s stores in the UK, as consumers continue to demand healthier soft drinks.
Zeo – already available in Tesco, Co-op and Ocado – will see three variants from its range hit shelves at Sainsbury’s, with two products in 96% of distribution points and three products in 57%. Zeo cloudy lemon, mixed berry, and peach and grapefruit in 750ml bottles will feature across the vast majority of the retailer’s supermarket estate.
The announcement follows the brand’s Sweet Wise campaign, aimed to help educate consumers about sugar, as well as the news last week that Zeo has become the first global soft drink brand to be Sugarwise-certified.
The natural, low-sugar offering, which has reported year-on-year growth of 48%, contains just over half a teaspoon of sugar in every 100ml of product, which allows it to carry a Food Standards Agency green light on pack and will make the brand exempt from the impending sugar tax.
Mark Young, managing director of Zeo, said: “Our goal at Zeo has always been to disrupt the soft drinks category and bring about a welcomed change to the sector. The only way we can truly educate the consumer about the benefits of low sugar is by increasing our distribution, which the Sainsbury’s deal now permits us to do.”
