A new twist on bioplastic caps

Richard Hall24 Oct 2011

Following in the green footsteps of PET bottles that are no longer entirely oil-based, I was pleased to read over the summer about similarly good news for bottle caps.

The new Green PE caps are made out of polyethylene from sugar cane derivatives, which are 100% renewable. They have been in use for UHT milk in Brazil since August.

Nestlé was behind the project, in partnership with Tetra Pak and Braskem.
