Nestlé has published an article about the great British institution that is Rowntree’s, a brand I grew up with and a brand that helped me fall in love with adverts.
I didn't watch a lot of TV when I was a kid, but would hurry to watch the ad breaks in between my mum's favourite programmes, and one of my fondest memories is the Rowntree's Fruit Pastille ads. Here's one of them ...
Rowntree's is celebrating its 150th anniversary this month. What a milestone! Its success is built on a number of significant brands, such as Kit Kat, Polo and Aero, but also its important business history, such as its acquisition by Nestlé in 1988, which has helped develop a new visitor attraction called ‘York’s Sweet Story’ to celebrate Rowntree’s place in York's confectionery-making history.
We doff our caps to Rowntree's. Brands that stand the test of time in this most competitive of industries should be applauded for their staying power.
