Soda power: the future of mobile phone charging

Could carbonated soft drinks be the future power source for your mobile phone? UK-based Chinese designer Daizi Zheng has created a concept mobile phone for Nokia, powered by a bio battery that uses the enzymes generated from CSDs.

“By using a bio battery as the power source of the phone, it only needs a pack of sugary drink and it generates water and oxygen while the battery dies out,” explains the designer of his project.

“Bio battery has the potential to operate three to four times longer on a single charge than conventional lithium batteries, and it could be fully biodegradable.”

Daizi Zheng was born in China in 1986, came to UK when 16 and is now based in London. Her primary interest is in designing everyday objects that brings new experiences to people and make them rethink and question.
