The Specialty & Fine Food Fair 2010

Shaun Weston6 Sep 2010

The Specialty & Fine Food Fair is on in London, and I found myself sampling more chocolate than is reasonably healthy for me at the opening in Olympia yesterday.

I met some ambitious people who are sticking their economic necks out to bring us some of the best chocolate I’ve tasted in ages

What was particularly attractive about attending this event was the number of fledgling exhibitors, no less than 55% according to the PR blurb, many of whom were showing off their product range among some of the industry’s bigger names.

From the quiet and unassuming to the confident and enthusiastic, I met some ambitious people who are sticking their economic necks out to bring us some of the best chocolate I’ve tasted in ages. And biscuits. And ice cream. And tea …

With so many exhibitors to see, I focused on confectionery, soft drinks, snacks and tea/coffee, missing out on meats, packaging, labelling and a generous smattering of dairy producers.

If you attended the show this week, I’d like to hear from you. What was great about it? What was missing? Who overwhelmed you with delightful food and who didn’t quite hit the mark with their presence? Leave a comment below, or email me.
