17 March, at 12:30 pm in the ASB Event Centre at Manfield.
Companies in every industry and every country face disruption in every aspect of their business. From designing, making and marketing products and services to recruiting and retaining the right talent, constant change is no longer the exception but the norm. Increasingly, innovation is not just about the product but about the company as a whole. Rigid hierarchies and bureaucratic processes are a ticket to the corporate scrap heap; the future will belong to the agile and lean, and the platforms and ecosystems they empower.
Even as startups and established companies compete with each other more fiercely than ever, they must find ways to learn better from each other, and sometimes figure out how to cooperate with each other in teams of rivals. Rising profitability, for big established firms and start-ups alike, will be the prize for those who figure out how to use the new technologies and ideas that are driving change to reinvent what it means to be a leading, world class company.
In Chicago, once again, in March The Economist Events’ Innovation Forum will bring together leading thinkers and practitioners from around the world to envision what the company of the future will be like and how today’s companies can achieve the transformation they will need if they are to flourish. Economist editors will ask the searching questions as Fortune 500 CEOs, policymakers and disruptive entrepreneurs share their insights and strategies for success in this coming world of constant exponential change.
The aim of the Sustainable Foods Summit is to explore new horizons for eco-labels and sustainability in the food industry by discussing key industry issues. How do organic, Fairtrade and other eco-labeling schemes further sustainability? With growing proliferation in labels, what are the prospects for a single sustainability standard for food products? What are the practical application of sustainability metrics? What advances are occurring in sustainable ingredients? What developments are happening in formulation, production and marketing of sustainable food and beverages? Such questions are regularly addressed at this international series of summits.
Since 2009, the Sustainable Foods Summit has been covering major developments in the food industry concerning sustainability and and eco-labels, such as organic, Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance. In 2017, the European edition will be hosted in Amsterdam on 1-2nd June, the Latin American edition will be hosted in São Paulo on 18-19th September, whilst the first Asia-Pacific edition will be hosted in Singapore on 29-30th November. The next North American edition will take place in San Francisco in January 2018. Each edition will bring together some of the most influential organisations involved in sustainability and eco-labels in the food industry.
The 11th European edition of the Sustainable Foods Summit will showcase developments in food ingredients, new technologies, and green packaging. For the first time, the executive summit will look at the disruptive influence of new technologies on food production and marketing.
How are new technologies providing greater traceability in supply chains? What developments occurring in digital marketing and mobile apps? With plastic pollution a major concern for food & beverage firms, an update will be given on sustainable packaging options. What are the alternatives to plastic packaging? How can brands close their packaging loops? What new food ingredients are adding sustainable value to products? What innovations are occurring? Such questions will be addressed in a high-level forum.
