Packaging
Easy open, easy close packaging
is growing in importance among the senior age group and everyone leading a busy lifestyle looking for food on-the-go.
Fitness and health
are taking a priority position, with niche products relating to cycling, running, yoga and various dance formats. We are already seeing increasing
beverage
sales in
vending
in fitness centres, and the trend is towards portable formats – either that hook on, fit onto bike racks, backpacks with straws and inbuilt beverage containers for drinking on-the-go, plus flexible packs and cartons for backpack storage.
Ultra-premium packaging and design,
from metallic and embossed packs to designer alubottles, PET bottles, cartons, glass and pouches – beautiful design is a big pull.
Safety, sustainability and transport costs
necessitating the move to PET for retail-ready beverage packaging.
Energy costs are severely impacting beverage plants.
New moves to cut costs in compressors, filters and
manufacturing
are key.
Reducing water use and wastewater
in plant is high on the agenda.
Digital printing
and short runs highlighting seasonal promotions such as Halloween are a growth sector.
Recycling plastic bottles and cartons
is, incredibly, still a new idea to people in some parts of the world, but with more facilities opening up, it’s gaining ground. Use of recycled PET (rPET) in
plastic
bottles is becoming better known.
Easy recycling
is all part of the plan when it comes to
labelling
adhesives and shrink-sleeving. It has to be easy to remove at the second life stage.
i>
Interactive packaging
– letting the package tell a story and engage with the consumer through AR, QR and Blippar technology.
