Australia’s a2 Milk has expanded its product range into the US northeast, responding to increasing consumer demand for its ‘easy-to-digest’ milk.
A2 milk products will be stocked in 1,400 stores throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.
The company’s products are made from milk which does not include the A1 beta-casein protein, which the company claims is a cause of digestive discomfort.
Stores in the Northeast will stock a2 Milk’s full product range, which includes whole, 2% reduced fat, chocolate 2% reduced fat and 1% low-fat milks.
A2 Milk CEO Blake Waltrip said: “The consumer demand for our products has been terrific. We started quietly in California in 2015, began the rollout across the west and in national natural food chains in 2016 and then in 2017 we developed a major presence in the Southeast.
“The US Northeast, home to roughly 60 million consumers, will give us exposure to about 20% of the milk volume category in the US.”
Waltrip added: “We offer a full line of 100% real cows’ milk that is easier on digestion.
We know many consumers self-diagnose themselves as lactose intolerant, however many have discovered they are actually sensitive to the A1 protein that is found in ordinary cows’ milk.
A2 Milk offers a solution to those consumers who experience digestive discomfort from dairy.”
