Anheuser-Busch InBev has opened the doors to a new brewery in Fujian province, China, which is capable of brewing 1.5 million tonnes of beer a year.
With such a large production capacity, the Putian brewery is the company’s largest brewery by capacity in Asia.
The factory will utilise an upgraded production line which will aid quality control, including high-speed scanning technology which automatically discards defective products. AB InBev claims the new technology will allow 160,000 cans of beer to be produced every hour.
Solar panels have also been installed, which will help to make the facility more environmentally-friendly.
The company claims the facility will also help to meet rising demand for high-end beers in the Chinese market. AB InBev CEO Jean Britos spoke to CNBC and said: “The factory was built in record time like everything in China, and it’s a very environmentally sound brewery, as most of our breweries are.”
Jean Jereissati, president of AB InBev Asia Pacific North added that: “The new factory is not just a production facility, it will also be a tourist destination.
“We will build a beer garden and a craft brewery to produce the liquid just for people who come here to see (the facility).”
