A claim against Abbyland Foods stated that the company violated environmental laws regarding air pollution and storm water management going back to 2000.
Wisconsin law requires construction and operation permits that control polluted air emissions from the facility. The law also requires that storm water be managed through best practices and monitoring through implementation of a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan.
Although Abbyland Foods is covered under the general Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit, the claim against Abbyland Foods states that the laws were breached.
