Independent soft drinks manufacturer AG Barr has invested £41m in the construction of a new production and warehousing facility, as it forges ahead with its growth and brand development plans.
As well as a warehouse and process engineering kit in the syrup room, the UK plant features a new canning line supplied by German packaging and bottling machine manufacturer Krones. There is further expansion potential for AG Barr, with enough room to house up to four more production lines.
AG Barr operates the soft drinks brand Irn Bru, Rubicon and Tizer, as well as producing the energy drink Rockstar under license and holding the distribution rights to the Snapple brand of tea and juice drinks in the UK and parts of Europe.
“England accounts for over half of the company’s volume sales and so the new site is ideally located to serve many of its key consumers, customers and distribution channels,” Krones said.
Last month we reported that AG Barr had acquired cocktail mixer manufacturer Funkin as part of a £16.5m deal, the value of which could rise to £21m depending on performance-related targets, as it sought to further diversify its brand portfolio.
