The Spanish bottled water producer said it had chosen the Thumb’Up cap solution from Bericap because of its technical, ergonomic and safety advantages. The company has reported high acceptance by consumers to the enhanced packaging.
The Thumb’Up is made of two parts, being securely assembled under clean room conditions at Bericap France in order to minimise any chance of contamination. The overcap and the body of the closure are connected with a strong hinge, which doesn’t break, even after several times of opening and closing of the closure. In fact, the hinge withstands a tractive force of 90Nm, according to Bericap. This makes the closure a safe solution for kids’ drinks, as it reduces the chance of the upper part being torn apart and accidentally swallowed.
The Thumb’Up is equipped with a tear-off band for sufficient tamper evidence. A tamper band secures the lower screw part of the closure.
Bericap highlights that the Thumb’Up sports closures are available for all neck sizes between 26-38mm, and are suitable for cold-fill aseptic applications.
