Amber Beverage Group, SPI Group’s spirits importer division in the Baltics, has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Mexican tequila producer Fabrica de Tequilas Finos.
Based in the town of Tequila in central Mexico, Fabrica de Tequilas Finos creates a range of branded tequilas including Don Camilo, Agave 99, Zapopan and Tonala.
Amber Beverage Group is the leading importer and distributor of wine and spirits across the Baltic States, with a 98.5% stake of weighted distribution in licensed outlets. Its brands include Moskovskaya and Amber Gold vodka, as well as the retail chains Latvijas Balzams and Bravo Alco in Latvia and Lithuania respectively, and it imports on behalf of the likes of Beam Suntory, Cointreau and Jägermeister.
The deal for Fabrica de Tequilas Finos is the Riga-based company’s first foray into tequila.
Amber Beverage Group CEO Seymour Ferreira said: “We possess over a century of experience in the production and distribution of brands such as Moskovskaya Vodka, Riga Black Balsam bitters and many more. Amber Beverage Group has a strong and fast-growing international business covering over 50 export markets operated from Riga, Latvia.
“Combining our expertise with a mastery of well-established Mexican tequila producers, we look forward to expand our portfolio of beverages in a new fast-growing category and establish even stronger global footprint.”
Financial terms of the acquisition have not been publicly disclosed.
