The ASTN represents the tropical fruit processing industries in Brazil. The not-for-profit organisation was founded in 1982 and focuses on research into technologies, production and markets as well as the promotion of processed tropical fruits. Together with its 13 associates, the ASTN accounts for 80% of Brazil’s tropical fruit juice production.
Christopher McCuin, Event Director at IFE11 commented: “We’re really pleased to be able to announce that the ASTN will be exhibiting at the show next year. It is a really prestigious organisation that is well-known and well-respected around the world and will certainly offer something unique to our visitors. In recent years, millions of tonnes of fresh fruit have been exported from Brazil, mainly destined for Europe, so there is certainly an extremely keen market for the products at IFE.”
Between 2002 and 2009, Brazilian juice production increased by 158.5%. In 2002 179.4 millions of litres of ready-to-drink juice was produced whilst by 2009 the amount had grown to 463.9 million litres.
