Italian pasta maker Barilla has made one of the world’s most convenient foods even more convenient by launching a series of microwaveable pasta pouches.
Barilla Ready Pasta, launching in the US, is a line of fully cooked pasta pouches seasoned with extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of sea salt. They are available in four versions of pasta – elbows, gemelli, penne and rotini – all with an ‘al dente’ texture once heated.
Consumers can simply prepare the pasta by kneading kneading the Ready Pasta pouches, tearing it open about 1 inch, and microwaving for 60 seconds. It can then be tossed with the consumer’s choice of ingredients for a quick and easy meal.
Barilla Americas vice-president of marketing Melissa Tendick said: “By listening to our consumers, we identified a need for a pasta solution that makes mealtime more convenient without compromising the quality people have come to expect from Barilla. With Barilla Ready Pasta, it only takes 60 seconds to prepare perfect pasta, so it’s great for people who are short on time or looking for a delicious meal option that doesn’t require extra clean up – whether it be lunch at work, an after-school snack or an easy, delicious dinner at home.”
Barilla Ready Pasta is non-GMO certified and free from preservatives. The pasta is packaged in an 8.5oz pouch, delivering two servings, and can be found in the dry pasta aisle of grocery, club and convenience retailers across the US.
