Chocolate and cocoa manufacturer Barry Callebaut has acquired D’Orsogna Dolciaria as it aims to strengthen its specialities and decorations business.
Family-owned D’Orsogna is a specialist supplier for food manufacturers, in particular for ice cream, dairy and bakery products.
With the deal, Barry Callebaut aims to become a leader in decoration products, expanding its existing offering with amaretti, meringues, cookies, glazings and toppings.
D’Orsogna was founded in 1957 and now has facilities in Italy, India and Canada, employing approximately 300 people. Last year its sales revenues were around €52 million.

The transaction is expected to be completed in September 2017. Both parties have agreed not to disclose financial details.
