Black-eyed pea snack brand Bepps has announced the launch of a new flavour, alongside the introduction of updated recipes and packaging across its portfolio.
With its focus on traditional crisp flavours, a new salt and vinegar variant was a natural progression for the brand. The snack is said to offer a “sharp, tangy taste profile”.
Bepps’ new recipes feature punchier flavours and the combination of black-eyed peas and fava beans is said to make the puffs richer in vitamin A and calcium.
In addition, the brand is sporting a new look that celebrates its West African heritage and inspiration. The puffs have been brought to the front and centre of packs and the use of two colourways is designed to create greater stand out on shelf.
Bepps aims to offer consumers a healthier alternative to traditional crisps and snacks. The brand was founded by Eve Yankah, who grew up eating black-eyed peas as part of her daily diet.
“We’re really excited to be launching the newly formulated range and can’t wait to see it hitting the shelves later this month,” said Yankah.
“The new salt and vinegar flavour packs a real punch, and we think this fresh twist on a flavour favourite will help the brand appeal to a more mainstream audience.
“Black-eyed peas will always be our hero ingredient, but as our product portfolio grows, you will see us mixing in other grains, peas and pulses into our impulse snack range starting with the puffs, which now include fava beans.”
The new salt and vinegar flavour will be available as of November in Tesco stores in the UK priced at £0.89 for 22g singles packs and £1.79 for 70g.
