Berlin Packaging has announced its acquisition of glass packaging supplier Vinkova B.V., as it looks to strengthen its glass offering in northern Europe.
In the 50 plus years since its founding, Netherlands-based Vinkova has built ‘strong’ relationships with a large network of customers, who will now reportedly benefit from access to an expanded packaging offering.
With design and innovation centres on two continents, Berlin Packaging claims to offer more than 40,000 SKUs.
Ruben van der Zouw, Vinkova’s commercial director, said: “This is great news for our company, and for all our business partners too. They will all benefit from the strong capabilities the Berlin Packaging Group has to offer.”
All employees and locations are being retained following the deal, which marks Berlin’s eighth acquisition in Europe since 2016.
Last autumn, Berlin Packaging reached an agreement for the purchase of glass packaging supplier Vidrimon.
Not long after, the company snapped up Netherlands-based Novio Packaging Group, strengthening Berlin’s European plastic offering and expanding its northern European footprint.
Commenting on the company’s latest acquisition, Berlin Packaging Europe CEO Paolo Recrosio said: “Acquiring an established food and beverage packaging supplier provides tremendous cross selling opportunities for our high-end specialty glass in northern Europe.”
Bill Hayes, CEO and president of Berlin Packaging, added: “Continued expansion in Europe is a central tenet of Berlin Packaging’s overall growth strategy.
“Beyond solidifying our northern European positioning, this acquisition gives us the ability to help customers of all sizes and market segments increase their bottom lines and strengthens our supplier partnerships, as we continue to grow our businesses together.”
The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
