Containers and closures manufacturer Berlin Packaging has opened a new US facility for Freund Container & Supply, its division focused on convenience quantities of packaging and industrial supplies.
Located in Lockport, Illinois, the 305,000-square-foot warehouse will allow Freund to expand its product offering to serve additional market segments and fulfil more orders.
Berlin Packaging said that reliable inventory management is a cornerstone of what it aims to bring its customers. It added that the Lockport facility increases speed and improves productivity, “allowing customers to benefit from supply chain smoothness”.
Located near new major Midwest transportation hubs, the new location will help Berlin achieve cost-effective delivery.
Freund Container also operates a dedicated warehouse in Nevada and Georgia, in addition to working with Berlin’s coast-to-coast North American network.
Berlin Packaging general manager Chris Hiller said: “Our investments in facilities, inventory, and our people show our commitment to be the preeminent packaging partner for customers of all needs – from convenience quantities to truckloads.
“We strive to deliver thrilling service with every interaction, and our new Freund Container warehouse provides the additional space and technology to further this mission.”
Earlier this year Berlin Packaging acquired UK-based supplier of closures and packaging equipment Erben as it aims to expand in the beverage industry.
With more than 100 sales and warehouse locations across North America and Europe, Berlin Packaging works in industries such as food, beverage, wine, spirits, beer, pharmaceuticals, and cannabis.
