Big Tree Distillery aims to cater to the premium spirits market with the launch of three gins which feature botanicals native to Australia.
Located in the Macedon Ranges region of Victoria, Australia, Big Tree has partnered with local artist Sarah Gabriel to create unique artwork for each of its products.
There are four illustrations in the series, all artworks illustrating gin botanicals, some unique to Australia, and showcasing the birds that visit the firm’s farm at Jack’s Springs.
The first in the series features the New Holland honeyeater and the Tasmanian pepperberry that grows in the Macedon Ranges.
The brand was launched by husband and wife team Catherine and Gary who love good gin so much they decided to make their own.
Big Tree’s packaging features Australian botanicals as well as images of birds that visit the firm’s farm.
In a statement, the brand said: “Big Tree Gins are created by using the finest ingredients, collecting fresh rainwater from the farm to create a gin that is truly memorable.
“Some gin botanicals are grown, and some are sourced off-farm, but where possible Catherine and Gary pick and forage some of the more interesting Australian gin botanicals as locally as possible with the help of their gin-loving botanist.”
Three gins are currently available: Elegant Dry, which is described as “the classic shout-out to the London dry gin”; Claude Navy Strength, a full-flavoured spirit with a touch of southern sassafras; and Seasonal, an ever-changing gin to reflect the seasons.
After launching online, Big Tree Distillery is now branching out nationwide across Australia.
