Tåpped has launched three flavours of its organic birch water in outlets of Whole Foods Market and Selfridges, and will add listings with retailers including Harrods and Planet Organic this month.
The new apple and root ginger, bilberry and lingonberry and “straight from the tree” varieties are made using birch water sourced from forests in Finland, and Tåpped has claimed that they are “the UK’s first premium organic birch water to combines this natural tree water with not-from-concentrate juices”.
The range is packaged in iconic 250ml birch trunk cartons, with a recommended retail price of £2.49. All varieties contain less than 40 calories, no more than 1.5% fructose and 15% of the reference value of the antioxidant manganese, “making Tåpped a healthy and low-calorie alternative”, the brand said.
Tåpped founder Paul Lederer said: “Birch water is at a very exciting tipping point, set to take off this year in the UK. We look forward to being an active leader in this drinks industry revolution for 2015, providing consumers with nutritious, natural, low calorie, and, importantly, tasty products.
“The popularity of coconut water has shown that consumers are willing to drink beverages from more unusual but natural sources and we believe that our Finnish birch water has the potential to deliver strong sales.”
