Birds Eye has launched a new line of frozen vegetarian pasta meals in the US as it aims to create more ways for consumers to enjoy vegetables.
Called Veggie Made Pasta, the range is available in four flavours: original, cheddar, marinara, and Alfredo. Each is served with either courgettes and lentils or spinach and lentils. Birds Eye said that the vegetables used are harvested at the peak of freshness.
The company aims to tap into the popularity of pasta in the US and provide a healthier alternative to other options on the market.
In a statement, the company said: “Getting families to eat more vegetables can be easier said than done, and we know how important your family’s nutrition is.
“At Birds Eye, we are dedicated to creating new ways to enjoy vegetables that are healthy, convenient and, of course, delicious so it’s easier for everyone to eat more vegetables, more often.”
Birds Eye vice president of marketing Risa Cretella added: “Birds Eye Veggie Made Pasta doesn’t just contain vegetable ingredients, and isn’t just plain vegetables cut into shapes of noodles. It looks and tastes just like regular pasta, and it’s made completely out of actual vegetables.
“It’s a guilt-free way to enjoy the comforts of pasta with a full serving of vegetables, without having to boil water or clean pots, making it an easy choice to include in holiday recipes or any meal.”
