Canadian ingredient solutions and product development company Blendtek Ingredients has acquired Tri-Blend Bakery Mixes, a manufacturer of commercial bakery mixes, as it aims to fuel innovation in the food industry.
Following the deal, which was made for an undisclosed sum, Tri-Blend will now operate as a division of Blendtek.
Based in Ontario, Tri-Blend is a dry blending company that provides a variety of mixes including pancakes, cakes and pastries to commercial bakeries throughout Canada and the US.
With the integration of Tri-Blend, Blendtek will add enhanced blending capabilities to its existing offerings. Its extended portfolio will reportedly support functional ingredient blends, bakery mixes, private label solutions and custom dry-blended products such as plant-based meat texturisers and emerging gluten-free alternative blends.
According to Blendtek, the deal has positioned itself as a full-service partner – from formulation and product design to strategic sourcing, manufacturing and packaging.
“With the current market landscape, the addition of Tri-Blend allows us to deliver on increasing consumer demands and support our customers on another level by taking the manufacturing process under our control,” said Steve Zinger, president of Blendtek Ingredients.
He added: “In addition to enhanced service offerings, our customers can expect the creation of efficiencies through the blending of multiple ingredients to help streamline their manufacturing and logistics.”
Doug Crone, founder of Tri-Blend Bakery Mixes, said: “Tri-Blend was founded with a focus on blending high-quality ingredients to create value-added bakery products. Our integration into the Blendtek organisation is a perfect match and will help us to compete in the ever-changing global food landscape.”
