Ingredient solutions and product development company, Blendtek Ingredients, has opened new 85,000-square-foot headquarters in Ontario, Canada.
Located in Cambridge, the new site will house the company’s head office, as well as manufacturing and distribution facilities. The building was designed to boost the company’s production capabilities, accelerate product development and support expanded partnerships in the US, Canada and Europe.
A new research and development lab and test kitchen have also been constructed to focus on growing food categories, including plant-based, gluten-free and sugar-reduced products. According to Blendtek, the site will accommodate retail-ready and larger format industrial packaging sizes.
Blendtek’s vice president, Rob Bianchin, said: “The decision to build a new facility and undergo expansion was driven by our mission to fuel innovation in food, meet the growing needs of our customers and help address the market’s current supply chain challenges”.
He continued: “The investment will advance the development of new product formulations and significantly increase the production and distribution capacity of our ingredients and proprietary blends for domestic and international markets”.
Last year, Blendtek acquired commercial bakery mixes manufacturer, Tri-Blend Bakery Mixes.
