Meal kit firm Blue Apron and weight management company Weight Watchers (WW) have partnered to introduce a rotating weekly meal delivery service in the US, which features recipes inspired by the Weight Watchers Freestyle programme.
Available from 26 December 2018, the recipes in the range will feature a selection of six meals for two people which will change every week, and the first six meals made available through the service included crispy chicken with kale, potatoes and caper mayo, garlic shrimp and Spanish-style potatoes and chipotle sweet potato chilli with avocado and cotija cheese.
Blue Apron’s culinary team collaborated with Weight Watcher’s nutrition experts to create the nutritious recipes which feature diverse cuisines, high-quality ingredients and unique flavours.
The nutritional content of the recipes can be tracked using the WW mobile app, helping consumers to track the number of ‘points’ offered by each meal and allowing them to manage their weight effectively while consuming nutritious and satisfying foods.
Stacey Mowbray, President of North America at WW said: “This partnership is all about bringing delicious, inspiring meals directly to your home.
“The recipes – based on WW Freestyle, our most effective and livable program to date – make cooking at home simpler, convenient and enjoyable.”
Brad Dickerson, CEO, Blue Apron added: “The passion, engagement, and enthusiasm of WW members closely mirrors the attributes of our community of home cooks.
“Our new WW Freestyle menu is designed to bring discovery and achievement to the home cooking experience, introducing consumers –including WW members and Blue Apron customers – to ingredients, techniques, and delicious meals that empower them to develop a wellness-inspired home cooking routine.”
