Darren Wood talks to Brian Sewell, product manager for Hanovia, about energy saving and safety offered by the Uveo UV decontamination technology.
Innovation in technology abounds at BrauBeviale as the aisles fill during the second day in Nuremberg.
The topic of energy saving has punctuated many conversations I have had during the past day and a half.
I found out more about the new Uveo UV decontamination technology on the Hanovia stand, where product manager Brian Sewell explained that research at the company’s new application centre has made it possible to tailor the decontamination potential of the device to the specific medium to be treated. Soft drinks can now be processed continuously with safety assured, using just one UV lamp, which saves on energy and spare parts maintenance over time, and ensuring the optimum in end product quality. Indeed, so accurate is the decontamination potential of the new Uveo UV system that we’re talking energy savings of up to 60%!
Damir Pilipovic sales manager LMF explained how compressed air savings in the region of €50,000 a year are possible with LMF’s frequency converter and the system control of compressed air delivery. Using the frequency converter, compressed air is supplied according to the specific capacity requirements of a blowmoulder at any specific time. So, rather than stopping and starting, the compressed air capacity is adapted up and down according to demand. This also reduces wear over time. The whole System is IEC3 classified, which underpins its energy saving potential.
On the Alfa Laval stand, Russ Kelly, portfolio manager pumps, highlighted how the new LKH self priming pump, which will be available next year, draws on air screw technology to optimise the flow of product or CIP solutions even with entrained air. High efficiency ensures significant energy saving potential, quiet operation and consistent performance over time.
Each of these technologies will be explained further in interviews and videos recorded on the stands at Brau and coming soon to www.foodbev.com.
