The aim of the agreement is to improve awareness among officials, JobCentre Plus advisers and staff of the job opportunities available in the beer and pub sector, and for DWP to recognise that this is an industry that supports hundreds of thousands of vital jobs throughout the UK, and champion this message across government.
The new deal commits the UK government and industry to work more closely together to maximise opportunities for those working in the sector. This includes the sharing of labour market intelligence, improved communications with a single point of contact within each organisation, and working together to promote hospitality industry initiatives.
Minister for employment Mark Hoban said: “I want to make sure all young people have a good start to their careers. That’s why it’s important for the government to work with employers and trade associations, so I’m really pleased that this week I’m signing partnership agreements with six major trade associations, including the British Beer & Pub Association.
“This will help us to promote schemes such as our Youth Contract wage incentive to more than 400,000 employers and create more opportunities for young jobseekers across the country.”
