A new beverage start-up has launched a range of low-sugar, all-natural cold-pressed drinks, designed to bridge the gap between plain water and sugar-loaded juices.
Grounded fruit waters – available in cucumber and mint, lemon and ginger, and lime and lemongrass flavour combinations – contain an average of just 3.3g of sugar per 100ml and deliver 14 calories per 100ml serving. Typical fruit juices and smoothies usually begin at around 9g and 35 calories respectively, the brand pointed out.
The drinks are 100% natural made with raw ingredients, and free from preservatives, additives or flavourings. Cold-pressed and pasteurised with a 30-day shelf life, the innovations “represent the next-generation of cold-pressed drinks”, Grounded said.
The brand was developed by University of Manchester graduate and former coconut importer Gabriel Bean as an honest, natural and healthy alternative to existing options.
Bean said: “It baffled me as to why it was so hard to find a refreshing drink that is 100% natural, tastes great and has a humble sugar count. I call that ‘the healthy hat-trick’.
“Sugar is already established as a major problem in the food and drinks industry, so I believe the arrival of Grounded comes at an ideal time. Not only that, but consumers are increasingly aware of ingredients and claims, and they now demand more transparency.
“Aimed at the health-conscious, Grounded is an exciting new proposition for the ‘gourmet-on-the-go’ audience.”
