Bubs Australia will release a new range of Australian-made organic grass-fed infant formula after entering into a supply agreement with Fonterra.
As part of the deal that runs until July 2021, Fonterra Australia will supply Bubs with organic milk powder, sourced from its organic milk pool in New Zealand, which will be manufactured at its facility in Darnum, Victoria, Australia.
The Bubs Organic new range of infant formula will be available in pharmacies throughout Australia in the next three months and will then export to China’s cross-border e-commerce channel.
Kristy Carr, Bubs Australia founder and chief executive, said: “Super-premium product offerings are the fastest growing segment of the infant formula category, and we are now able to offer two nutritional options – organic and goat, to suit individual dietary needs – tapping into the global consumer trend towards natural, sustainable and organic food production.
“Bubs has already established itself as a key player in the goat dairy infant formula sector in Australia and made significant inroads into China.”
She added: “Cow milk formula accounts for close to 95% of the Australian formula market and represents a significant opportunity for Bubs, which already has both a premium Australian infant nutrition brand positioning and strong organic credentials established over 13 years producing Bubs Organic baby food.”
The launch comes after Bubs announced the formation of a joint venture with dairy company Beingmate to sell its portfolio of infant formula and baby food products in China. Bubs will supply its products to Beingmate’s distribution network, which covers 30,000 stores throughout China.
Last month, Bubs secured a deal to acquire Australia Deloraine Dairy, a Melbourne-based infant formula producer that meets regulatory import conditions into China.
Founded in 2006 in Sydney, Bubs produces a range of organic baby food, cereals and toddler snacks, selling its products in Australia, New Zealand, China, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
