The Commonwealth Institute and Sight and Life are organising a Round Table discussion on Hidden Hunger at the Commonwealth Health Ministers’ meeting in Geneva this weekend.
The session is called ‘Hidden Hunger – the missing link between Health and Food’. Some of the world’s leading experts will call for a change of policy to combat the challenge of micro-nutritional security and meet the Millennium Development goals on nutrition. The headline is that this is a problem that can be tackled now, five years before the MDG deadline.
Experts will debate the issue of micro-nutritional deficiency, including Joyce Banda (the vice president of Malawi), Dr Martin Bloem (the World Food Programme), Dr Werner Shultink (Unicef) and the director general of Sight and Life, Dr Klaus Kraemer.
