Camden Town Brewery will launch a limited-edition lager to mark the end of 2016, aged for a year in cognac, tequila and bourbon barrels.
The so-called Beer 2016 is described as ‘full-bodied’ and is being introduced in time for the festive season.
The ‘freestyle’ lager has notes of dark rum, sweet treacle and cocoa and is available in larger-than-average 750ml bottles, illustrated by London artist Jay Cover, which are designed for sharing. The seasonal lager has an ABV of 8.1% and a retail price of £9.99, and will be available from Camden Town’s own bars.
Camden launched its ‘year beer’ series back in 2013 and has released a commemorative brew every year since. This year’s edition is available in a limited production run of 2,016 bottles and has been touted by the AB-owned brewer as ‘the perfect stocking filler for beer fans’.
Jasper Cuppaidge, founder and CEO of Camden Town Brewery, said: “Beer 2016 to me is a beer to sum up the year; something to remember all the great things that have happened over the past 12 months, encapsulating the memories of what we’ve been up to here at Camden. Our yearly beers are one to hold on to, remembering who brewed it, the amount of time and love that went in to it. It’s a way of looking back, keeping the memories intact and getting us excited for what’s next to come.”
