Cargill Protein has announced that it will centralise its regional distribution operations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area by moving operations to a new warehouse and distribution centre.
The company claims that the new site will become operational in autumn 2018, and the move will improve capacity and supply chain efficiency and allow it to serve more clients in the retail, foodservice and food ingredients industries.
Operations from Cargill’s San Antonio, Texas, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma will be integrated into the new regional hub, and the company has assured customers operations will not be affected during the transition to the new site.
Cargill also claims that the new site will allow greater collaboration with other Cargill protein businesses in the local area, such as meat processing facilities.
Rick Johnson, Cargill Food Distribution general manager said: “The DFW area was the logical choice for Cargill to centralize our regional warehousing operation as it has an excellent warehouse, distribution and logistics infrastructure and major highways to all of our key markets in the region.
“The move underscores Cargill’s commitment to design food distribution systems focused on delivering wholesome, sustainable and affordable food to consumers.
“It allows Cargill to scale our growth by providing customers greater capacity, more product variety and more efficient distribution.”
