The brand is best known for its premium fish pie.
Premium ready meal brand Charlie Bigham’s has announced plans to more than double its production capacity as sales for the year approach the £40m mark.
A brand new production kitchen will open in the next two years, leading to capacity being more than double its current level. The site will cater for future demand and ensure the brand continues to be a market leader for fresh, high quality food, Charlie Bigham’s said.
With anticipated sales growth this year, the brand, whose ready meals for two retail for £7, has launched a range of single portions. The line consists of Charlie Bigham’s fish pie, lasagne, macaroni cheese and moussaka in individual servings, available from around 200 Waitrose stores across the UK as well as online supermarket Ocado with a recommended retail price of £4.50.
It will also double its investment in television advertising in 2016, following the success of the brand’s television debut in 2015, which saw volume on its flagship fish pies increase by more than 35%. The brand’s television advert will return to screens in the New Year, with London set to be the epicentre of a wider campaign.
Founder Charlie Bigham said: “We are absolutely delighted with our FY15 results, and demand for our food continues to increase so we’re committed to building a bigger production kitchen to keep up. We’re very proud to be delivering delicious food to more twosomes than ever before!”
