Chobani founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya opening the new facility.
Chobani has opened a new Innovation & Community Centre at its Twin Falls, Idado, plant to boost the development of new products.
The 71,000-square-foot facility, which was announced in 2017, also serves as home to the company’s Global Research & Development Centre.
At more than 14,000 square feet, the R&D unit encompasses the entire top floor of the building and features a ‘chef kitchen’ to enable Chobani’s researchers to innovate.
The design of the innovation centre is said to enable the use of 25% less energy for lighting, heating and cooling than a typical US office building. Meanwhile, roughly 55% of the construction waste was recycled and diverted from landfills.
The building features a 7,000-square-foot gathering space for shared meals, daily relaxation and special celebrations.
“I’m grateful for the bond we share with the people of the Magic Valley,” said Hamdi Ulukaya, founder and CEO of Chobani.
“It is so important that we invest as much time, energy and dedication to the wellbeing of our people as we do our products. This new Innovation & Community Centre makes us more connected to our people, our plant and to our community. That was our vision from the very beginning and I am so thrilled this centre will serve as a bridge to Chobani’s exciting and bold future.”
Idaho Governor Brad Little said: “Chobani has worked hard to make itself an integral part of the Magic Valley community. Chobani’s latest investment in its state-of-the-art Innovation & Community Centre underscores its commitment to Idaho.
“We are grateful to the leadership and employees at Chobani for their continued dedication to excellence, which only serves to help us in our goal to make Idaho a place where our children and grandchildren choose to stay.”
In January, Chobani released its Non-Dairy product line in the US to capitalise on consumer demand for plant-based dairy alternatives.
