Rolled aluminium specialist Closurelogic has developed a new pressure-resistant closure in response to what it described as “market demands”.
The 60mm Sparkling Star closure is capable of withstanding pressures of up to 5 bar, meaning it has applications across the carbonated beverages category. “Test runs with a major bottling company have confirmed the closure’s pressure-resistant capability and neutral taste,” Closurelogic said.
Its development addresses some of the key challenges that face carbonated beverage bottlers, such as significant increases in bottle pressure that can occur during transportation when the bottle is exposed to variations in temperature. The Sparkling Star closure ensures maximum safety throughout the distribution chain, while retaining its easy-to-handle, tasteless and resealable characteristics.
Marion Requena, sales manager for wine and spirit closures for Closurelogic, said: “Short screw caps have long been established for sparkling wines in small bottles. Recently, however, we have received an increasing number of requests for BVS 30x60mm closures for carbonated beverages.”
“Sparkling Star is ideal for this constantly growing market. Because it can be reclosed, the bottled products continue to fizz freshly, even if the bottle was opened the day before.”
