Coca-Cola has announced it will release its first-ever peach-flavoured Coke as a limited-edition drink in Japan.
Coca-Cola Peach will go on sale nationwide in the country from Monday 22 January.
The drink is a blend of regular Coca-Cola with peach flavouring, and the drink will be available in both 500ml and 280ml bottles.
Coca-Cola’s research states that demand for peach-flavoured carbonated drinks is highest in the country between January and March, so the drink has been released to meet this demand.
Japanese mythology claims that peaches dispel evil, and the fruit is an integral part of the Hina Matsuri festival (also known as “the seasonal festival of peaches”), which is held on 3 March annually in Japan to celebrate the coming of spring.
The packaging features a pink and red design with a prominent pink peach and carbonated bubbles, which appear in the centre of the 500ml bottle and in the corner of the 280ml bottle.
The release of the product comes days after Coca-Cola announced it would be rebranding its Diet Coke range, creating a new design and introducing four new flavours.
