A Colorado-based company has brought to market a range of RTD teas made from ingredients such as yerba maté and ashwagandha.
8th Wonder Tea will be available in four different flavours: ginseng and passionfruit green tea; ashwagandha apple chai; yerba maté cayenne; and rooibos red. Individual bottles will retail at a suggested price of $2.49 and will be available through speciality grocers in Colorado, Utah, Texas and Idaho.
FoodBev first introduced readers to the brand back in February 2016, when it was trying to launch the products with a focus on organic accounts. 8th Wonder co-founder Reed Rush told us at the time that the brand was inspired by elements of the Indian Ayurvedic system, combined with traditional Chinese medicine.
Fellow co-founder Parker Rush today added: “Our goal is to redefine the tea drinking experience. We considered the tradition that surrounds tea drinking and decided to turn it on its head. This is tea on-the-go, maybe for the active person looking to have a ‘tea party’ on top of a mountain with friends. We’re the tea that takes you places.”
Each blend contains single-origin superfoods that promote wellbeing, with ingredients sourced from diverse cultures around the globe. They are 100% organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, low-carb, and provide a daily dose of vitamin C and antioxidants. The teas also contain half the sugar and calories of other leading brands using no artificial sweeteners.
Along with the launch, the brand will kick off a social media campaign to encourage consumers to share images to Instagram of themselves enjoying 8th Wonder Tea while travelling or engaging in creative and outdoor activities.
It aims to set itself up as ‘the tea that takes you places’ and will market itself towards active millennials, for whom health is an important factor in purchasing behaviour and who are most likely to be enticed by on-trend superfood ingredients like ashwagandha and exotic flavour combinations like ginseng and passionfruit.
