CWAU president Troy Christensen said the company and Stephen Tobin had reached a satisfactory agreement and were now working together to ensure an orderly handover of the estate’s vineyards and outstanding tourist facilities.
“We’re very pleased with the agreement we’ve reached,” said Christensen. “CWAU will retain the Amberley brand, but Steve and Melissa will be taking over the vineyard, cellar door and restaurant facilities.
“They have a great vision for the place and this is a great outcome for the region.”
Tobin said that long-time Margaret River vigneron and winemaker Michael Kelly had been appointed as general manager of the estate and is charged with responsibility for implementation of a staged tourism and winemaking development plan.
“Our plans for the Estate are to rename, rebrand, expand and develop the property into a premium tourism destination for Australian families and international visitors,” he said.
