Continental Mills is looking to tap into the popularity of high protein products with the launch of Krusteaz Butter Protein Pancake mix.
Featuring a plant-based wheat protein, sweet cream buttermilk and non-GMO ingredients, the new pancake product is said to contain ‘13g of protein per serving’.
For consumers looking to further boost their protein intake, the new mix also features instructions for alternative preparation by adding milk or eggs.
Joining a Krusteaz product line which includes mixes for waffles, cookies, muffins and bread, the pancakes are created by just adding water to the mix.
Continental Mills president Andy Heily said: “We know that more and more consumers are looking for better-for-you versions of their favourite foods.
“Our new pancake delivers not only the benefits of protein, but the taste and texture that other protein pancakes are lacking. Our version is light and fluffy with a hint of sweet from the buttermilk.”
Krusteaz culinary specialist Malia Hasegawa claimed the new pancakes taste ‘phenomenal’, stating: “Whether you’re looking to add a little extra boost to a leisurely family Sunday breakfast or fuel up before a hectic weekend of soccer practice and baseball games, or even enjoy for the new breakfast for dinner trend, this is sure to become a staple the whole family will enjoy.”
The Krusteaz Buttermilk Protein Pancake is now available in the US with a recommended retail price of $4.99.
