Costa Coffee has announced a new limited edition coffee roast, which will join the UK coffee shop’s ongoing Old Paradise Street range.
Old Paradise Street No.7 roast is the first single-origin roast in the range, created using 100% Sumatran coffee beans. It “provides a smooth but intense espresso with underlying blackberry aromas, a clean aftertaste, and light acidity,” Costa Coffee said, and was available over the bank holiday weekend between 30 April and 3 May.
Designed to introduce “new and exciting tastes”, the Old Paradise Street range is named after the road in London where Costa Coffee has roasted all of its beans since 1971. The latest blend follows on from the retailer’s previous Old Paradise Street No.3 and No.5 Colombian and Arabica coffee blends – available for three and four months respectively during the end of last year and the start of this year.
Costa Coffee master of coffee Gennaro Pelliccia said: “We’ve brought a completely different taste to our customers with the Old Paradise Street No.7 roast. We experimented with various beans from all over the world but the Sumatran bean provided us with the unique characteristics and distinctive taste that fit perfectly with the quality we demand from our coffee.”
