Dairygold Food Ingredients has invested £300,000 in the installation of a new packing line for its soft cheese products as its production facility in Leeds.
The expansion will facilitate the packing of soft cheese in 2kg tubs for the foodservice sector, with the possibility to extend the line to allow additional packing functions and size formats. The new line will also create greater flexibility for orders with short lead times, Dairygold said.
Dairygold Food Ingredients head of commercial Matt Lawton said: “We’re dedicated to working with our customers to provide the best possible service, and a high quality product that delivers both on taste and functionality. The new packing line will not only offer our customers greater flexibility when placing orders, but will also allow us to process orders more quickly for a service that is even more efficient.”
A part of Irish dairy cooperative Dairygold, the company also revealed its intention to improve the dispatch process with the implementation of hired, high-quality delivery units for its liquid cheese, which it said would offer a more efficient transport process.
It has claimed that its Leeds plant is the largest soft cheese production facility in the UK, although its increased soft cheese function won’t lead to Dairygold adding to the 32 people it currently employs at the site.
